Is Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold too fragile? Users report issues with inner display
A Reddit user have reported that the Galaxy Z TriFold's inner display suddenly went black and became completely unresponsive.
The user also clarified that the device had not been dropped or physically damaged.
Another user reported that the inner display started acting strangely in just five days of use.
Samsung’s latest foldable experiment is already facing questions about durability. The tri-fold smartphone from Samsung, Galaxy Z TriFold, is currently available only in limited numbers, but early adopters have started reporting problems with the device’s inner display. While the complaints are not widespread, they are concerning given the phone’s ultra-premium price. Reports began surfacing on Reddit, where a few users shared their frustrating experiences. These reports were later highlighted by Android Headlines.
SurveyA user named Odd-Drawer6410 reported the issue a few days ago, explaining that the phone’s inner display suddenly went black and became completely unresponsive. He also shared a video demonstrating the problem. According to the user, the device had been in use for about a month and a half before the issue occurred.
He added that restarting the phone initially resolved the problem, but only for a short time. The following day, the same issue returned, and this time a reboot did not help. The inner display stayed black even after restarting, with no boot animation visible.
The user also clarified that the device had not been dropped or physically damaged. When the issue first appeared, the phone was simply lying open on a table, and attempting to start it in safe mode did not fix the problem either.
Another user, ThoughtIll3676, reported an even faster failure. In this case, the inner display started acting strangely in just five days of use. The screen became unresponsive and began registering ghost touches, where the phone reacted to inputs that weren’t actually made. By the next morning, the display had turned completely white and stopped working altogether.

This second user also claimed to have handled the device carefully, keeping it in stable temperatures and using it lightly. The user also noticed a popping sound when folding or unfolding the phone, along with what looked like an air bubble forming under the screen.
It’s important to note that such failures can happen with any electronic device, especially early production units. Foldable phones, with their complex hinges and flexible displays, are naturally more complicated than traditional smartphones.
