Claude down: Thousands of users facing issues with Anthropic’s AI platform

Claude down: Anthropic’s Claude AI is currently facing an outage globally, including in India. On Downdetector, an online outage monitoring platform, more than 1,300 users in the US have reported problems with the AI service. Meanwhile, in India, there are over 180 reports. Most users, around 55 per cent, say they are struggling to use Claude Code, while 21 per cent reported issues with Claude Chat. The remaining 14 per cent reported facing issues with the app.

According to Downdetector, the reports of the outage started appearing at around 10:00 AM in India. As expected, Claude users head to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustrations and look out for updates. While one user posted, “Claude is down. Let’s call it a day!,” another wrote, “Claude is down! API error 429 overloaded service side issues has been happening more frequently lately.”

The company is yet to share an official statement regarding the outage. For now, Claude users will just have to wait for Anthropic to identify the issue and fix it.

Update: Anthropic has acknowledged the issue. On Claude’s status page, the company has posted, “We have identified the cause of elevated errors on requests to Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and other Claude models and are working on a fix. We will provide an update as soon as possible.”
