Amazon Kindle (10th Gen) now available for pre-order in India at Rs 7,999

Amazon has upgraded the most affordable Kindle in its popular range of e-readers. Named The tenth generation of the e-reader now comes equipped with a front light for easy reading in the dark. The storage space onboard is a standard 4GB, which, according to Amazon, is good for holding thousands of books. The new Kindle is available in black and white colours for pre-order on the Amazon India website starting today for a price of Rs 7,999. The Kindle will be released on April 10.
The new Kindle comes with a 6-inch e-ink display with a pixel density of 167 pixels per inch, 4GB of internal storage space, and Wi-Fi connectivity. “Customers who have used the front light on the Kindle Paperwhite and Oasis appreciate being able to read their favorite books in bright sunlight as well as dark surroundings,” commented Jayshree Gururaj, Director – Amazon Devices in an Amazon press release.
Like some of the models before it, the new Kindle enjoys Whispersync, the device’s ability to save information like last page read, bookmarks, and annotations from Kindle eBooks on the cloud so they can be accessed from any other eligible reading device, including computers. The new Kindle also gets Goodreads integration, a community-based website with over 50 million members, 1.3 billion books, and 47 million book reviews. Like many Kindle models before it, the new Kindle comes with X-Ray, a feature that gives the reader extra information about the book, author, etc., while Smart Lookup integrates a full dictionary.
The Amazon Kindle first released in November 2009, and has since been receiving steady improvements and feature additions. Since the launch of its e-readers nearly eleven years ago, Amazon has steadily launched different variants of Kindle, like the Kindle Voyage, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Oasis, to name a few. The new Kindle is currently available for pre-order in two colours from the Amazon India website and will be released on April 10.
