The State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is rolling out unlimited voice calling for fibre as well as broadband tariff customers, effective from June 1.
State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is expanding the scope of its plans by offering unlimited voice calling to its fibre and broadband tariff customers. Effective from June 1, the move will see BSNL expand on its already-active free night-calling across BSNL networks in the country. The new plans are applicable to its fibre internet (FTTH) customers, as well as those subscribed to its broadband tariff plans between Rs. 249 and Rs. 645.
However, those who are subscribed to broadband plans in the aforementioned price bracket will only get unlimited voice calling to other BSNL customers across India, while the unlimited night-time calling will be free across any network in India. Customers subscribed to broadband rental plans of above Rs. 645 per month will get unlimited voice calling across any network in India, at all times. The same applies for BSNL's fibre broadband customers, even those that have subscribed to the new double-data fibre plans priced at Rs. 1,045, Rs. 1,395 and Rs. 1,895. The double-data fibre plans now provide up to 200GB of data every month, and BSNL will hope that the addition of unlimited voice calling will entice customers to remain on its network.
Reliance Jio poses the biggest threat to BSNL's customers with its impending fibre broadband network, set to open up to the public soon. Jio Fiber is expected to provide 100GB of data per month at 100Mbps, and with Jio's history of competitive pricing, many users may soon make the switch.
