BSNL launches IPL plans starting at Rs 199
HIGHLIGHTS

BSNL announces two new IPL plans.

The plans are worth Rs 199 and Rs 499.

With an aim to equal its private counterparts and to be in the fray, state-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has introduced two special plans. The two Special Tariff Vouchers (STV) are worth Rs 199 (Rs 201 for North) and Rs 499. The company is promoting its plans during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 tournament in India, and is now giving an option to users to set the latest cricket score as their Caller Tune.

BSNL announced the development on its official Twitter handle. Both the Rs 199 and Rs 499 plan include unlimited voice calling for both local and STD calls in the local service area. For circles like Mumbai and Delhi, the unlimited voice calling is also valid on roaming. This is because BSNL does not have operations in these cities. This STV offers 1GB of daily data and up to 100 SMS messages. If you recharge with Rs 199, you will get 28 days validity, and if you recharge with 499, the plan will be valid for 90 days.

Last month, BSNL announced new WiFi hotspot tariff vouchers to enable users to access the telcos’ WiFi hotspots across the country. The company says that it has 38,000 operational Wi-Fi hotspots in the country. The company has announced a total of four vouchers. With the Rs 19 voucher, one will get to avail 2GB data with two-day validity. Then, there are Rs 39 and Rs 59 vouchers, which enable usage of 7GB and 15GB data for seven and 15 days respectively. The BSNL WiFi 69 voucher is priced at Rs 69 and comes with 30GB of data, which is valid for a month.

Further, the operator also introduced a Rs 599 prepaid plan that offers a validity extension as well as free calling. The subscribers of any prepaid plan of BSNL can recharge with Rs 599 to extend the plan of their validity by 180 days. Digit confirmed the development with a source. Not only do the consumers get the extended validity of six months, but they will also get free local, STD and roaming calls. However, these plans will not be available to customers in Mumbai and Delhi circle because BSNL does not have operations in these cities.
