Japanese smartphone maker Sony has sent out invites to the media in India for an event scheduled for October 21. The invite reads, “Block your date Wednesday 21 October 2015, New Delhi”. Did you really think we were going to give out the address too?

The invite has the signature Sony and Xperia logo on it, which has led us to believe that Sony will launch its Xperia Z5 line-up. The smartphones expected to launch are the Xperia Z5, and the Z5 Premium.

Some information circulating the Internet suggests that the Xperia Z5 Compact may not be unveiled in India. If that is true, it’s a little sad considering the fact that the Xperia Z3 Compact was a really good phone.

Kicking things off with the specifications of the Sony Xperia Z5, the device has a 5.2-inch 1080p Triluminos display. Under the hood, the Z5 has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor coupled with Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB RAM. It has 32GB built-in storage expandable up to 200GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop straight out-of-the-box. The rear of the smartphone has a 23MP camera with 4K video recording. The front has a 5 MP camera. Just like the Xperia phones before it, the Z5 features an IPX5 / IPX8 rating for dust and water resistance. Just like every flagship and flagship killer launching today, the Z5 also has a fingerprint sensor. A 2,900mAh battery powers the entire package.

Moving to the specifications, Xperia Z5 Premium comes with a 5.5-inch display with a 4K Triluminous technology. The display has a 3840×2160 pixels resolution, the highest we have seen on a smartphone. The display has an 806 ppi pixel density. It must be noted that there are only specific applications that can exploit the 4K-display on the Xperia Z5 Premium.

The Xperia Z5 Premium is powered by a 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 GPU coupled with 3GB of RAM. It houses 32GB built-in storage expandable up to a whopping 200GB via a microSD card. The rear of the smartphone has a 23MP camera and the front has a 5MP camera. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. A 3,430mAh battery powers the entire package.

Last but not least the device which is speculated not to launch in India – the Xperia Z5 Compact. Coming to the specifications of the smartphone, it has a 4.6-inch 1080p display. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor coupled with 2GB RAM. The smartphone has 32GB built-in storage expandable up to 200GB via a microSD card. It has a 23MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. A 2,700mAh battery powers the Xperia Z5 Compact.

There is no pricing information available of any of the devices expected to launch but one thing is certain, If you are one looking to pick up a flagship smartphone this holiday season you are spoiled for choice.
