OnePlus has been among the front-runners when it comes to rolling out the latest software on it smartphones. It gave early Android Oreo access to the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T as well as the OnePlus 5, but for the Android Pie update, users will have to wait for some more time. On Weibo, company CEO Pete Lau has said that the above-mentioned smartphones will get the latest Android 9 Pie update, but users of these smartphones will have to wait. Replying to a user's question, he said that the company’s software team is still working on the update for these smartphones.
OnePlus 6 has already received the latest Android Pie 9.0 update and Lau also confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will come with the latest Android version out-of-the-box. “Of course, the 6T will ship with Android P. In the matter of following up on the big version of Android, we have been walking in front,” the executive said in a post on Weibo. Recently, the OnePlus 6T was spotted on Geekbench running Android Pie 9.0. OnePlus 6T is expected to have a new UI which OnePlus’ software expert Szymon K says will be the most “intuitive and distinctive”. The OS is reported to feature an improved camera app, a more advanced Do Not Disturb mode, and new navigation gestures.
In September, OnePlus 6 users got the Android Pie update (with Oxygen OS 9.0) on their phones. On its official blog, OnePlus said that the 1521MB update brings with it a brand new UI for Android Pie, new adaptive battery support, new Android Pie gesture navigation, updated Android security patch to 2018.9, other new features and system improvements, new Do Not Disturb (DND) mode with adjustable settings, new gaming mode 3.0, added text notification mode added notification for third party calls, accent colour and Supported accent colour customization.
