Android 17 may bring new AI features, better battery life, and smoother performance.
The update is also expected to improve multitasking and lock screen customisation.
Google could roll out the stable Android 17 update around June or July this year.
Google is all set to roll out the stable version of its most awaited operating system update, Android 17. Early leaks reveal that the upgrade can come with a revamped interface, more intelligent AI capabilities, extended battery life, and enhanced multitasking ability for foldable devices. While some reports hinted at an Apple-inspired glass-like interface, Google has denied those claims for the Pixel devices. However, the upcoming Android 17 is expected to offer lock screen customisation, tighter privacy controls, and smoother app performance in the background. Here’s everything from the features, release timeline, eligible devices and more that you need to know about the upcoming Android 17.
SurveyAndroid 17: Expected features

Leaks suggest that Google is testing translucent menus, blurred backgrounds, and floating controls that could make the interface look more modern. This is somewhat similar to Apple’s Liquid Glass update. However, recently a senior Google executive has denied this claim and said that Pixels will not receive the Apple-like glass UI.
Aside from that, the upcoming Android update may also improve the lock screen customisation and is expected to provide more control to the users in terms of notification handling.
AI is also expected to play a larger role in the upcoming OS update, as Android 17 could introduce smarter on-device features for writing, search, and app suggestions. You may have seen similar things on some of the custom UIs, like OxygenOS 16. However, the Android 17 could take it to another level.

Reports also hint that with the new update, the users could see better battery optimisation on their devices, and as a result of that, the apps would consume less power in the background.
Google is also likely to improve multitasking on foldable phones and tablets. Faster app switching, improved split-screen support, and better desktop-style controls could arrive with the update. Privacy upgrades, including tighter permission controls and safer app access, are also expected.
Android 17: Eligible device

Google Pixel phones will be the first to receive the Android 17 update. Devices like the Google Pixel 10 series, Google Pixel 9 lineup, and newer Pixel foldables are expected to be supported.
Brands such as Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Nothing, and Vivo are also expected to bring Android 17 to select premium and mid-range phones after Google’s rollout begins.
Android 17: Release timeline
While the beta version of Android 17 has been available for quite some time, Android 17 Beta 4 is now rolling out, indicating that Google may be nearing the release of the stable version. Although there has been no official announcement regarding the launch date, leaks and rumours suggest that the stable update could arrive in June or July, ditching its usual launch timeline.
