Bailey joined Apple in the early 2000s. Before taking charge of Apple Pay, she served as vice president of the company’s online store. Bailey oversaw the launch and growth of Apple Pay. The service allows users to make payments in stores, apps and online. She also led the development of Apple Wallet and oversaw the launch of Apple Card.

In his memo, Cue praised Bailey’s contribution to the company. “On a personal note, Jennifer has been an incredible friend and leader, and I will miss working with her,” he wrote, as per the report.

Bailey’s retirement comes as Apple goes through a wider leadership transition. Several longtime executives have recently left or reduced their responsibilities. General counsel Kate Adams is also retiring this year, while environment chief Lisa Jackson left earlier in 2026. Former Chief Financial Officer Luca Maestri and longtime marketing executive Phil Schiller have continued at Apple in reduced roles, though both are believed to be nearing the end of their time at the company.

Several other members of Apple’s senior leadership team are also reaching retirement age. Services chief Eddy Cue, retail head Deirdre O’Brien and marketing chief Greg Joswiak have each spent roughly four decades at Apple.
