Main Vaapas Aaunga Movie (2026)

Main Vaapas Aaunga is an Imtiaz Ali romantic drama that unfolds as a deeply emotional tale of love, longing, memory, and separation, spanning across generations and timelines.
The film follows a young couple, played by Vedang Raina and Sharvari Wagh, whose tender romance blossoms in pre‑Partition India. Their love, full of innocence and stolen glances, is abruptly torn apart by the chaos of Partition, forcing them to separate with only a promise: “Main vaapas aaunga” (“I will return”). 
Decades later, an elderly man (played by Naseeruddin Shah) remains haunted by this unfinished love story. His grandson, portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh, becomes the narrator of this emotional journey, bringing the past to life through memories, visuals, and music as the old man relives the love he lost but never forgot. 
Imtiaz Ali, known for stories in which love transcends time and circumstance, layers the narrative with themes of nostalgia, migration, home, and the emotional scars left by the Partition. The film blends old‑world romance with contemporary reflections, enriched by A.R. Rahman’s soulful music and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.
