LG Electronics has announced that it will launch the LG V40 ThinQ smartphone on October 3 in New York, US. The company has released an invitation video on its official website in South Korea. The video teases three cameras: One with a wide-angle lens, another with zoom capabilities (telephoto lens) and a third one dedicated to capturing portrait images. Alongside the video, in a note, the South Korean smartphone maker announced that it will launch the handset on the 5th floor of 'LG Science Park' integrated support center on October 4 in Seoul.

LG announced the launch event a few hours after a smartphone with model number LM-V405UA was spotted on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website in the US. Several media reports claim that this model number belongs to the LG V40 ThinQ. The smartphone has already been discussed in a lot of leaks and recently, CAD and press renders suggested that the smartphone will have a total of five cameras — two on the front and three at the back.

The front cameras are said to be housed in the notch with other sensors. Previously, a report suggested that the device could use both or either one of them to unlock the device with the Face Unlock technology. When it comes to the rear cameras, leaked photos suggest that they could be aligned horizontally and it could be shipped with a fingerprint sensor that sits below the triple rear camera setup.

On the hardware front, the phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor. The LG V40 ThinQ could feature a 6.3-inch OLED or p-OLED display with QHD+ resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels. In the Press Renders, the SIM slot and power button can be seen on the right edge of the device, while the volume rocker is on the left edge along with another button, which is expected to be a dedicated Google Assistant button. On the bottom edge is a USB Type-C port, a speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
