Huawei has confirmed that it will launch its Mate 20 Pro smartphone in India next month. The company recently unveiled its Mate 20 series of smartphones and has now sent out a press statement confirming that the company’s flagship phone will be soon made available in India. It seems like only the Mate 20 Pro is making its way to India as there is no mention of the Mate 20 or the Mate 20 X and in addition, the company’s website has listed only the Mate 20 Pro. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro features triple-rear cameras in a square setup and features a display with thin bezels all around.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro Specifications and Features

The Mate 20 Pro sports a 6.39-inch 2K+ Curved OLED HDR display with a 19.5:9 display aspect ratio. The phone’s display features a standard rectangular notch that houses the front camera and sensors for better face recognition. It is powered by the company’s latest 7nm Kirin 980 SoC that uses Cortex-A76 based CPU. The processor is equipped with with Dual-NPU, Mali-G76 GPU and supports LPDDR4X memory that is clocked at 2133MHz. The Kirin 980 SoC features 6.9 billion transistors. The phone supports 40W SuperCharge technology, which the company says can charge 70 percent of the device’s 4200mAh battery in 30 minutes.

Coming to optics, the Mate 20 Pro comes equipped with a triple 40MP + 20MP + 8MP sensor configuration. The first sensor is paired with a 27mm wide lens with f/1.8 aperture, while the 12 MP sensor gets a 16mm ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture. Huawei also has a specialised underwater mode and waterproof case for users that want to capture images underwater using the phone. On the front, the smartphone comes equipped with a 24MP RGB sensor inside the notch where alongside the camera, is a dot projector, a flood illuminator, an IR camera and the proximity and ambient light sensor. These sensors work in tandem to enable 3D Face Unlock feature, which is something similar to the Face ID on the iPhone X. They also help in 3D object scanning using which one can scan an object to bring it to life in the virtual world. The phone also uses 3D Modeling Calorie Calculation to count calories of the food using food recognition and volume measurement.

The Mate 20 Pro also supports 15W fast wireless charging and is the only phone right now that can charge other devices and accessories using reverse wireless charging. The phone sports dual speakers without any speaker grille and this is done by routing audio through the Type-C port on the bottom. It runs on MIUI 9, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie and the new OS comes with features like a simplified Settings screen, new navigation gestures and more.
