Five more phones have also been launched alongside the HTC 10 - One X9, Desire 830, Desire 825, Desire 630 and Desire 628. Phew!

HTC has launched its 2016 flagship, the HTC 10, in India. The device was globally unveiled last month, and joins the incoming array of Snapdragon 820-powered flagship smartphones being launched in India. The device houses a 5.2-inch Quad HD Super LCD 5 display, along with broad chamfered edges running around the rear of the all-metal smartphone chassis. Powered by Qualcomm’s venerable Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM, the HTC 10 joins the list of flagship devices like Xiaomi Mi 5 and LG G5, powered by Qualcomm’s prime chipset.

Incidentally, the HTC 10 becomes only the second device in India running on Snapdragon 820, after Xiaomi’s Mi 5. It is priced at Rs. 52,990, while the Mi 5 premiered at a price of Rs. 24,999. The difference in prices is likely to play a deciding factor on how well would the device be received in the Indian market. HTC is banking upon its camera performance to make a mark in the flagship smartphone market with the HTC 10. It houses a 12-megapixel UltraPixel camera powered by the latest generation Sony Exmor R IMX377 image sensor that is capable of delivering superior low light performance. It is accompanied with Optical Image Stabilisation, laser-assisted autofocus and an f/1.8 lens, along with 4K video shooting capabilities. The front-facing 5-megapixel camera is accompanied with Optical Image Stabilisation, too, along with an f.1.8, ultra wide angle lens.

The HTC 10 will offer 32GB of internal storage, along with expandable storage support of up to 2TB. Other enhancements on the device include stereo 24-bit Hi-Res audio recording and BoomSound Hi-Fi with Dolby Audio support for high fidelity audio experience. A fingerprint sensor is integrated into the home button, a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support powers the device, and the port happens to be USB-C. The smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow out of the box. The smartphone will ship from June 5, and the first 500 customers will get HTC’s Dot View case free.

Alongside the flagship, HTC has also launched five more devices in India. The HTC One X9 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 SoC, along with 3GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage, 4G LTE connectivity, BoomSound with Dolby Audio, 13MP camera with OIS and a 5.5-inch Full HD Super LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen protection. The One X9 is priced at Rs. 25,990. Meanwhile, the Desire 630 is powered by Snapdragon 400, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage. Both the Desire 630 and 628 house 5-inch HD displays, while the Desire 830 houses a Full HD, 5-5-inch display, and the Desire 825 houses a 5.5-inch HD display. The Desire 630 is priced at Rs. 18,990 and the Desire 625 at Rs. 13,990. Prices for the HTC Desire 830 and Desire 825 are yet to be announced.

Nevertheless, the main focus will remain around the flagship, the HTC 10. HTC seems to have thrown in plenty of bells and whistles to the device, and it remains to be seen how well it is streamlined to perform and deliver, in accordance to its price.
