Google will launch Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL smartphones on October 9 in New York
HIGHLIGHTS

Google has sent out invites for an event in New York. Earlier it was reported that the tech giant could launch the Pixel smartphones on October 4.

Contrary to previous rumours which claimed that Google could launch the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones on October 4, the tech giant will unveil the devices on October 9. Google has sent out invites for a “Made by Google” event on October 9. The invite just says “I <3 NY” which means that Google is expected to launch the new phones in New York. The event will start at 11AM New York time, which means 8:30PM India time.

Google has designed its invite very creatively. First, the mention of the venue is given in the “I <3 NY”. It also included “3” in the phrase implying the third generation of “Made by Google” smartphones. Now that almost all the information about the smartphones is out in the wild, Google apparently didn’t have much to tease in the invite. Google is also expected to launch a new detachable 2-in-1 Pixelbook along with phones on October 9. You can also expect developments on the software side.

The design, specifications and features of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have already leaked, though some still doubt the legitimacy of the leaks. Google Pixel 3 XL has already been spotted in an unboxing video on YouTube, though the video did not have any voice over. Just around this time, a series of leaks showed the presumed camera samples of the smartphone. The design of the Pixel 3 has also leaked. A set of images have shown the smartphone having a Pixel 2 XL-like design.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have also reportedly passed through NCC certification and are expected to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The Google Pixel 3 XL will be the larger of the two devices and is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a notch which will incorporate a dual camera setup. The phone is said to come with 4GB RAM, a 3,430mAh battery, and Android 9 Pie OS. As spotted in leaks, there is a single camera on the back. The Pixel 3 on the other hand might feature a smaller 5.4-inch AMOLED display. It has been reported that the Pixel 3 will also feature a dual front camera setup.
