Google Pixel 3 users complain of “disappearing” messages, company says fix coming soon
Google recently discovered a bug affecting SMS/MMS on a small number of Pixel 3 phones and has confirmed that it will soon roll out a fix.
A “small number” of Pixel 3 users are reportedly experiencing problems with SMS/MMS and have claimed that their text messages have disappeared. According to The Verge, this behaviour has been reported after come Pixel 3 users installed the November security update. Google has acknowledged the problem and said that it will soon be releasing a fix for the bug responsible for making the messages disappear.
The publication also says that it has encountered people who claim that their messages vanished sometime last month, that is, before the November security update was rolled out. It is suggested that Android Messages might be the one to blame. 9to5Google reports that some users have managed to recover lost messages by rolling the app back to an earlier version, which can be done by uninstalling updates from the app details page.
This is not the first problem faced by Google’s Pixel 3 owners. Recently, users of the larger variant of the third generation Pixel phone, the Pixel 3 XL, reported that another notch popped up on the edges of their phone's display. The virtual notch was not seen at one particular position as some users said it appeared on the left edge, some claimed the second notch grew on the right side. Google later fixed the issues. There was also a report which claimed that the Google Pixel 3 devices were not saving photos on the phones.
