Blackberry Venice gets candid in front of the camera

Blackberry Venice gets candid in front of the camera
HIGHLIGHTS

The Android powered BlackBerry Venice may be launched in November this year.

The upcoming Blackberry Venice has been leaked numerous times in the past few months but it seems that wasn't enough. The latest leak gives an even clearer look at the phone. As reported earlier, phone runs on Android, has a sliding keyboard and may come with an 18MP camera. In tandem with the leaked images new information has also surfaced suggesting that Blackberry has used its expertise to reinforce security.

These latest leaks give us a glimpse of the software. The three images given below feature the shortcut menu, the widget menu, and the multitasking menu respectively. While previous rumors have suggested that the phone is running stock Android, these images do point towards a light UI, which we don’t know much about at the moment.

According to Android authority, when the phone boots up, the usual Android Bugdroid is seen holding a shield. Since this is Blackberry one can expect enterprise class security from the phone, although that will be tough to do with the Android OS.

From the exterior the phone looks very similar to previous renders and leaks that we have seen so far. On the hardware front, Blackberry ‘Venice’ is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC. This is the same processor Motorola uses on its Moto X Style. Previous leaks suggest that the phone will have 3GB of RAM and an above 5 inch display size. However, the display resolution is not known yet. The device is expected to bring an 18MP camera at the back.

The main hardware aspect of this phone though is the keyboard. According to all the leaks we have seen so far the phone might have a sliding keyboard.

Blackberry has seen a lot of up and downs in the last couple of years. The company however might have a chance to regain its market share with this excessively leaked Blackberry Venice. The Venice is one of the most anticipated ‘Android’ phones this year. Blackberry has nothing to lose and with Android on-board it might be able to make things right again. The said the phone is expected to be announced in November.
