Now you can quickly see which tabs are making noise despite having multiple YouTube tabs opened.

YouTube has introduced a new Play button icon that points to which of the browser tab has audio/video playing. On hitting the pause, the icon disappears.

First spotted by Google System, the new feature is likely to help YouTube users quickly see which tabs are making noise. Considering the large number of auto-plays on YouTube and with multiple YouTube tabs opened, it gets tedious to track which of the tab has to be paused or closed.

YouTube has added a new play icon to its video pages that only appears when content is playing. The icon disappears when you hit pause, allowing you to quickly see which tabs are making noise.

YouTube’s new play icon is said to be reminiscent of a feature that was added to Chrome Canary back in February. It featured an indicator on top of the tab favicon.

Here’s the screenshot of the “play” symbol, which is the black right-pointing triangle Unicode character.
