Vivo S2 Review

The Vivo S2 has officially launched in India on August 6, 2026, marking the return of Vivo's S-series to the country after nearly seven years. Positioned as a "premium mid-range" phone with flagship-inspired design, the S2 leans on a 3D curved AMOLED display, a large battery, and versatile 4K video recording on both cameras rather than chasing raw benchmark numbers. It's powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset, paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The Vivo S2 features a 6.83-inch 3D Curved AMOLED display with a 2800x1260 (1.5K) resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. It's built around a 7,050mAh battery with 44W FlashCharge and Vivo's Battery Life Extender technology, rated for up to 33 hours of video playback. The phone ships in a single 8GB RAM configuration, with a choice of 128GB or 256GB storage, and runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16.

Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Bright 3D curved AMOLED display at up to 3,000 nits is a genuine step up for the segment	RAM is fixed at 8GB across both variants, with no higher-memory option
Large 7,050mAh battery comfortably supports over a day of heavy use	Secondary rear camera is a basic 2MP sensor, not a true ultrawide
Both rear and front cameras support 4K video recording	Storage uses UFS 3.1, a generation behind some rivals' UFS 4.1
Slim, lightweight build under 200g despite the large battery	44W charging is noticeably slower than several similarly priced rivals
5 years of security patches is a strong commitment for the segment	Only 3 years of OS upgrades, fewer than some competitors offer

Final Verdict

The Vivo S2 makes a solid case with its bright curved display, dependable battery, and dual 4K-capable cameras, but it's priced higher than the similarly specced Nord CE6 and matched closely by the camera-focused Edge 70 Pro. It suits buyers who prioritise display quality and Vivo's camera tuning over outright charging speed or value.
