HP launches new DeskJet All-in-One printers in India with dual-band Wi-Fi, price starts at Rs 6,999

HP has introduced a new range of DeskJet All-in-One printers in India, targeting students, parents and professionals working or learning from home. The new portfolio spans the HP DeskJet, HP DeskJet Ink Advantage and HP DeskJet Ultra Ink Advantage series, and focuses on affordable printing, wireless reliability and compact design. These come with dual-band Wi-Fi, app-based controls and low-cost, high-yield ink options. Here are the full details.

Price and availability

• The HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2986 All-in-One is priced at Rs 6,999 and comes in White Very Peri.
• The HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2989 All-in-One is priced at Rs 6,999 and comes in White Machu Picchu.
• The HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4388 All-in-One is priced at Rs 7,999 and comes in White Surf Blue.

These models are available via HP World stores and the HP Online Store.

The HP DeskJet Ultra Ink Advantage 5135 in White Warm Aroma and 5185 in White Pimento will be available soon.

The HP DeskJet 2931 All-in-One in White Very Peri will also be available soon.

Select models include a complimentary one-year subscription to the HP Print Learn Center, valued at Rs 899.

Specifications and features

The new DeskJet AiO series supports printing, scanning and copying in a single compact unit. All models feature a 60-sheet input tray, which is standard for entry-level home printers in this segment.

Print speeds go up to:

• 7.5 pages per minute in black and 5.5 pages per minute in colour on the DeskJet 2931, Ink Advantage 2986 and 2989, and Ultra Ink Advantage 5135 and 5185
• 8.5 pages per minute in black on the DeskJet Ink Advantage 4388

These speeds are in line with other budget inkjet printers aimed at home users. They are suitable for occasional printing and light workloads, but not intended for high-volume office environments.

The DeskJet Ink Advantage 4388 adds an automatic document feeder, which simplifies multi-page scanning and copying. This feature is typically found in slightly higher-priced models and may appeal to users who regularly scan assignments or official paperwork.

All models offer dual-band Wi-Fi, operating on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, along with self-healing technology that automatically reconnects if the signal drops. This addresses a common frustration in entry-level wireless printers, where network instability often interrupts print jobs.

Users can also print via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi using the HP app, enabling multi-device access across smartphones, tablets and laptops. The control panel uses physical buttons designed for straightforward operation, reducing setup complexity for first-time users.

In terms of sustainability, HP states that all models contain at least 70% post-consumer recycled plastic. The printers are also eligible for recycling under the HP Planet Partners programme. This aligns with HP’s broader environmental commitments in the consumer hardware segment.

Compared to older entry-level DeskJet models, the new lineup places greater emphasis on more stable Wi-Fi, integrated access to educational content via the HP Print Learn Centre, and a refreshed design.

These printers are built for light to moderate home use. However, users with heavy monthly print volumes may need to calculate long-term ink costs carefully. While HP promotes low-cost, high-yield Original HP inks, running costs remain a key factor in the inkjet segment. Laser printers may offer a lower cost per page for very high volumes, though at a higher upfront price.
