Specifications and features

The GW2490TC and GW2790TC feature FHD IPS panels with 178° wide viewing angles, 300 nits brightness, and 99% sRGB colour reproduction. Both monitors support a 144Hz refresh rate and 5ms response time, which should deliver smoother scrolling, reduced motion blur and better responsiveness compared to conventional 60Hz office displays.

Furthermore, there is support for AMD FreeSync, which should help minimise screen tearing during video playback or light gaming, although these are not positioned as dedicated gaming monitors.

A key feature is the USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode, enabling display output, data transfer and up to 20W power delivery over a single cable. While 20W may not fully charge high-performance laptops, it is sufficient for many ultrabooks and tablets during productivity tasks.

Other ports include 1x HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort (v1.2).

The monitors also include BenQ’s Eye-Care technologies such as Flicker-Free, Low Blue Light and Visual Optimiser modes. These are designed to reduce eye strain during prolonged screen time, an important consideration as hybrid work and online learning continue to drive longer daily display usage.

In terms of ergonomics, both models support height adjustment, tilt, swivel and pivot. This allows users to customise viewing positions, including vertical orientation for coding, reading or document editing.
