Google has launched Gemini 3.1 Pro, a new AI model built to handle complex problem-solving tasks. The upgrade is part of the Gemini 3 family and ‘represents a step forward in core reasoning,’ according to the company. Gemini 3.1 Pro is said to be designed for situations where simple answers are not enough. The tech giant says that the new model can help in ‘practical applications – whether you’re looking for a clear, visual explanation of a complex topic, a way to synthesise data into a single view, or bringing a creative project to life.
SurveyA key focus of this release is stronger reasoning capability. Google claims the model performs far better on tests that measure how well AI can solve new and unfamiliar logic problems. ‘On ARC-AGI-2, a benchmark that evaluates a model’s ability to solve entirely new logic patterns, 3.1 Pro achieved a verified score of 77.1%. This is more than double the reasoning performance of 3 Pro,’ the company said. The goal is to make AI more useful for tackling advanced workflows rather than just generating quick replies.

Gemini 3.1 Pro is being rolled out across Google’s ecosystem. Developers can access it in preview through the Gemini API and related development tools. Businesses and enterprise customers can also access the model via Vertx AI and Gemini Enterprise. For regular users, the model is available via the Gemini app and NotebookLM.
Google describes the release as a preview phase, meaning the company is still testing and refining the system before making it widely available. The feedback collected during this stage will help shape further improvements, especially in areas like advanced automated workflows.
