Specifications and features
Dreame L40 Ultra AE

The L40 Ultra AE is the higher-end model, focusing on maximum automation and deep cleaning performance. It features:
- 19,000Pa suction: Among the highest in the segment, aimed at lifting fine dust and heavier debris from carpets and floor gaps
- TriCut Brush 3.0: Includes a built-in hair-cutting mechanism to reduce tangles, useful for homes with pets or long hair
- MopExtend and RoboSwing: Extends the mop to reach corners and edges, improving cleaning in tight spaces
- 3DAdapt navigation: Uses sensors to map rooms and avoid obstacles like furniture and cables
- Multifunctional dock: Supports auto dust emptying, water refilling, mop washing with 75°C hot water, and drying
- Smart carpet detection: Automatically boosts suction and lifts mops to prevent wetting carpets
Dreame D20 Ultra

The D20 Ultra is positioned as a more affordable all-in-one solution with slightly toned-down specifications. It features:
- 13,000Pa suction: Still powerful enough for daily cleaning across hard floors and carpets
- DuoScrub mopping system: Dual rotating mops apply pressure to remove stains more effectively than static pads
- RoboSwing edge cleaning: Improves coverage along walls and corners
- 100 days dust storage: Uses a 3.2L dust bag with auto-emptying to reduce manual cleaning
- Pathfinder navigation with obstacle avoidance: Maps the home and plans cleaning routes
- 5200mAh battery: Up to 250 minutes runtime with faster charging
So, the key upgrades in this lineup are centred around automation and cleaning precision.
- Higher suction benchmarks, especially the 19,000Pa output on the L40 Ultra AE, which exceeds many current competitors in India
- Advanced dock systems that not only empty dust but also wash and dry mops, reducing manual effort
- Improved edge and corner cleaning using extendable mop mechanisms, an area where robotic vacuums typically struggle
- Hair management systems like TriCut Brush 3.0, which address a common pain point for users
These features are not entirely new globally, but their presence at these price points shows the category is becoming more competitive and feature-rich in India.
Now, you’ll have to also consider factors like service network, app reliability, and spare part availability. Dreame claims support across 160+ cities with options like pick-up, drop, and on-site installation, which should address that concern.
