We’re three months into 2026, and smartphone launches this year have been pretty exciting. But it looks like the market is going to get even more thrilling, as OnePlus is looking to bring a new device to the mid-range segment. The OnePlus Nord 6, aka the Chinese Turbo 6, which debuted a few months back, is reportedly making its way to the Indian shores. Without wasting much time, let’s take a look at the top 5 upgrades the OnePlus Nord 6 is expected to bring over its predecessor, the Nord 5.

Smoother display
First and foremost, a big chance will come in the form of the display tech. While there’s not much upgrade with the display itself, as it’ll feature a similar 1.5K flat screen. But things will get a bit smoother. That’s because the OnePlus Nord 6 is reportedly going to come with a higher refresh rate panel compared to its predecessor.
The OnePlus Nord 5 features a fast 144 Hz display, which feels much smoother than the other phones on the market. Though with the Nord 6, OnePlus is switching things up, as reports suggest the device will get a much smoother 165 Hz screen. Definitely a much-welcome upgrade.
Bigger battery
The biggest change, however, is going to come in the form of the battery. In the past few months, smartphones’ batteries have got larger. Phones with 6,000 to 7,000 mAh batteries are becoming very common. But OnePlus is reportedly switching up the game with the Nord 6.
Leaks suggest that OnePlus is going to launch the Nord 6 with a much larger 9,000 mAh battery. Though in terms of charging, to charge the bigger battery, OnePlus is still going to stick with the same 80W fast charger that came with the Nord 5.
Performance upgrade
Speaking of internals, last year’s Nord 5 came powered with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, which was a big performance leap over the Nord 4’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. And with the Nord 6, the company is continuing the performance benchmark, as the device will reportedly come powered with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC. In terms of RAM, the device is reportedly going to come with 12GB RAM variants, too.
Faster storage
Not only is the performance department getting a big leap, but OnePlus is reportedly also planning on upgrading the storage to a much faster version with the newer device. The current Nord 5 features the UFS 3.1 storage, but with the Nord 6, reports suggest that it’ll get the latest and much faster UFS 4.1 storage. A welcome change, as the device should feel much snappier in day-to-day performance.
Better durability
Last but not least, for the first time, the Nord series is going to get a big upgrade in terms of the build quality. While historically, better IP ratings like IP68 have been limited to the flagship OnePlus devices, this time around, they’re also making their way to the more mid-range Nord series.
Reports suggest that the Nord 6 could come with both IP68 and IP69 ratings. This means the Nord 6 has been rated for high-level dust and water resistance. A much-needed upgrade, as previous devices like the Nord 5 and all the other Nord devices before that have only featured an IP65 rating.
