Xiaomi reportedly plans to expand deeper into home appliances in India in 2026

Xiaomi may soon expand its presence in India’s home appliance market beyond smartphones and smart TVs. According to tipster Yogesh Brar (via Smartprix), the company is preparing to introduce several new categories, including smart air conditioners and refrigerators designed for Indian homes. The leak suggests the products are currently undergoing local testing and certification ahead of a potential launch in the second half of 2026, possibly around the festive shopping season.

Upcoming Xiaomi appliances to expect

If the report is accurate, Xiaomi’s upcoming push could include several large home appliances that are already available in its home market in China:

Smart air conditioners

These ACs will feature AI-based sensing technology meant to optimise cooling for energy efficiency.

These models are expected to feature integration with HyperOS, the software platform present on Xiaomi devices like smartphones, tablets, wearables, appliances, etc. So, you would be able to control temperature, schedule on-off, etc., through this ecosystem of connected devices.

Smart refrigerators

Xiaomi could bring multi-door and cross-door refrigerator designs to India, similar to models it sells in China. These typically include touchscreen controls, internal cameras to see items inside, and smart connectivity features that integrate with Xiaomi’s wider home ecosystem.

Updated smart TVs and air purifiers

Xiaomi is also expected to refresh its existing TV and air purifier lineup. Future TVs could focus on higher-end QLED or OLED panels.

Testing and certifications

The leak indicates Xiaomi is already testing these appliances in India to ensure they can operate reliably under local conditions. That includes adapting the devices to handle voltage fluctuations and extreme temperatures.

Before launch, the appliances would also need to secure regulatory approvals, such as certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and energy ratings from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). These approvals are required for most large home appliances sold in the country.

Should you wait for these products?

Xiaomi has already introduced parts of this ecosystem globally under its ‘Human x Car x Home’ strategy, which connects smartphones, smart home devices and electric vehicles into one platform. However, India has so far seen only a limited portion of that ecosystem, mainly smartphones, smart TVs and a few IoT devices.

The company also showcased several home appliances for global markets at Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC) earlier this year, suggesting a wider international rollout could happen soon.

India’s appliance market is growing rapidly, particularly in categories such as air conditioners and refrigerators, as urban households upgrade their homes and summer is here. By expanding into these segments, Xiaomi could diversify its offering and compete in these new areas.

And for consumers, Xiaomi’s entry into more appliance categories could mean more price-efficient options. Prospective buyers will also care about service and long-term reliability in these products. So, let’s see how this pans out.
