MacBook Neo 2 to come with touchscreen display? Here’s what we know
Earlier this month, Apple introduced the world to the MacBook Neo, its first-ever laptop for the budget conscious consumers. Costing lesser than an iPhone 17, the laptop seems tailor-made for users who had been thinking of entering Apple’s ecosystem for a long time. Shortly after the launch of the MacBook Neo, reports of its successor started surfacing online. Until now, many reports had claimed that the MacBook Neo 2 might come with a touchscreen display next. But now, rumours suggest that this is far from becoming a reality.

Touchscreen MacBook Neo might not happen soon
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has not yet made a final decision about introducing touch support to Macs beyond a future high-end MacBook Pro. That particular model is expected to arrive sometime in late 2026 or early 2027. If that timeline holds true, the MacBook Neo line may have to wait significantly longer before getting a touchscreen.
Gurman reportedly believes that the chances of a touchscreen MacBook Neo arriving anytime soon are quite slim. In fact, he said he would be surprised if the feature makes its way to the Neo within the next three years. This suggests that Apple may continue sticking to the traditional MacBook design philosophy for its most affordable laptop, at least for the foreseeable future.
And the reason behind this could be cost. Touchscreen displays are usually more expensive and if it does come to MacBook Neo, the laptop’s price might go up as well. Now since this product is aimed at budget conscious consumers, Apple may prefer to keep the hardware simple in order to maintain its pricing.
About the MacBook Neo 2
By now, there are many rumours regarding what we can expect from the next MacBook Neo. Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo has said that the laptop could launch sometime next year and the company could focus on improving the core performance of the device.
As per reports, the upcoming model could feature the A19 Pro chip, replacing the A18 Pro processor found in the current MacBook Neo. Moreover, the base model’s RAM could also see an upgrade. The existing MacBook Neo ships with 8GB of RAM, but the next generation model may push this up to 12GB. That change alone could make the device more capable when handling multiple apps or heavier workloads.
However, none of this has officially been announced by Apple and we will get to know the final details only when we get closer to the launch date.
