Apple’s Vision Pro is falling behind due to limited immersive content: Report

Apple’s Vision Pro headset is struggling to gain traction, and a new report suggests that one of the biggest reasons is its lack of immersive content. To date, only 27 immersive titles are available, leaving users with little to explore. For example, Apple is still showcasing an immersive highlight reel of the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, even though the 2025 game happened six months ago.

According to Bloomberg, while Apple has improved the operating system and introduced accessories to make the headset lighter and easier to use, these changes aren’t enough to drive sales. The report estimates that Apple has sold well under a million units in the US since launch, highlighting just how limited its reach has been.

The report also notes that Apple recorded a lot of immersive footage ahead of and shortly after the Vision Pro’s release, but producing such content is expensive. Immersive video is likely the feature that could convince people to buy the headset, yet the company is holding it back due to slow sales.

The next version of the Vision Pro, expected later this year, is set to include a faster chip but no major changes that would alter consumer perception. A cheaper and lighter model is said to be planned for 2027, but that could be too late if the category loses momentum.

Meanwhile, Apple is likely preparing to launch the iPhone 17 series next month. This lineup is expected to include four models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
