Apple has reportedly asked Google to explore setting up servers that would run the new Siri while still following Apple’s privacy rules. Apple had already revealed in January that the future version of Apple Foundation Models would be built on Gemini models and Google’s cloud technology. And said that these models would power new Apple Intelligence features, including the new Siri. However, Apple did not clearly state at the time whether the assistant would operate directly on Google’s cloud infrastructure.

So far, Apple’s AI features have not seen strong demand. According to the report, only around 10 per cent of the company’s Private Cloud Compute capacity is being used on average. This low usage suggests that Apple’s AI tools have not yet attracted as many users as hoped.

In related news, Apple confirmed earlier this month that it will be rolling out the long-delayed Siri in 2026. This confirmation came after reports suggested that the AI Siri might face yet another delay.
