Gears of War: E-Day gets its first gameplay along with a release date

Starting with the biggest announcement of the showcase, it came from the developers known for the Gears of War franchise, The Coalition. They revealed a new look at Gears of War: E-Day, which is a prequel to the original Gears of War game. It got its first major gameplay reveal, where we get to play as the young Marcus Fenix during the events of Emergence Day.

After the showcase, there was also a follow-up direct, which offered a deeper look at the story and gameplay. The game launches on October 6 for the Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it will also be included with Game Pass. Xbox has confirmed that it will be an Xbox console exclusive and that an open beta will be available on August 6 for those who pre-order.

Persona 6 announced; Persona 4 Revival gets a release date

It looks like every wish from the Persona fanbase was finally heard, as Atlus had two back-to-back reveals during the showcase. The biggest one came in the form of Persona 6, where they announced the game with a new teaser trailer, confirming it as a standalone entry in the franchise. More details are awaited, but the game is now available to wishlist.

Along with that, they also announced the release date for Persona 4 Revival, which is a full remake of the original game. It is coming with updated visuals and quality-of-life improvements. As for the release date, it will be coming out on February 18, 2027, and is now available to pre-order. Both games will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass.

Fable gets a new villain and is finally launching in February 2027

One of the most awaited games from Playground Games is Fable, and it is safe to say that the game has been through a lot. It was announced originally back in 2020, and after a lot of delays, thankfully, the showcase did some justice, as the developers have announced that it will launch on February 23, 2027, with early access for the Premium Edition buyers starting February 18. The new trailer introduced Isabel, who is being played by the popular actress Hayley Atwell, and the game also teased the return of Jack of Blades from the original game.

Halo: Campaign Evolved to launch with three new missions

Another first-party announcement comes from Halo Studios, as they’ve confirmed a July 28 launch for Halo: Campaign Evolved. Buyers who pre-order the game will get up to five days of early access starting from July 23. Coming to the game itself, the showcase revealed three new missions featuring Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson, and they’re calling it Operation: Meteorite. The game is already available to pre-order on Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and PlayStation 5, and it will also be available to play on Game Pass day one.

Spyro is back with a new game after almost 20 years

The last time we saw a new Spyro game – not counting the remastered trilogy – was all the way back in 2008. But after almost 20 years, the developers, Toys for Bob, have officially announced Spyro: A Realm Beyond. Legendary voice actor Tom Kenny returns for his role, and the game is set to feature a new world, expanded exploration, and true dragon flight as well. While the exact release date is yet to be announced, developers say that it is coming out in Spring 2027.

Senua and State of Decay 3 revealed for next year

Ninja Theory revealed their new game, known as Senua, which is a new action-adventure game set in the Hellblade universe. The game casts the Celtic warrior in a fractured purgatory, and it brings tactical combat and a vivid interconnected world. It is set after the events of the previous game, Hellblade II, and is slated for a 2027 release.

Along with that, Undead Labs also showed the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming sequel, State of Decay 3. Just like the previous entries, the game features solo and four-player co-op survival in a world overrun by a blood plague. Similar to Senua, it will also be released in 2027.

New DOOM: The Dark Ages DLC, CoD MW4, and Minecraft Dungeons II

Other announcements from first-party studios include a new look at the upcoming DOOM: The Dark Ages, which is known as Revelations. It is a new campaign expansion that launches July 7 and introduces the Chain Spear alongside new levels and enemies.

We also got a new look at the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. It showed off its extraction-based DMZ mode, which is a squad-based deployment sandbox. The game comes out on October 23. There was also the new Minecraft Dungeons II, which will release on September 29 with new environments, enemies, and character customisation.

Wo Long 2, Resonance, Castlevania and more

Team Ninja announced Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, which is an action-RPG set in the aftermath of the first game. It is coming out in early 2027. Meanwhile, Asobo Studio showed off Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, which, as the name suggests, is a prequel to the original game. It follows a new protagonist named Sophia, and it is coming out on August 27.

There’s also a new Castlevania game coming out, which is being developed by the developers of the popular indie, Dead Cells, Evil Empire and Motion Twin. It is known as Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and it launches on October 15. Meanwhile, there’s also a new Metro game from 4A Games, in the form of METRO 2039. It got its first gameplay trailer, and it was announced that the game will be coming out in February 2027.

Xbox 25th anniversary hardware announcements

Last but not least, since this year marks Xbox’s 25th anniversary, Microsoft has also announced the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition. It features a translucent design that draws inspiration from the original Xbox. Along with that, they have also revealed the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, both of which will be available in November.
