Oura Ring 5 leak reveals new colour and design tweaks; improved tracking expected
New 'Deep Rose' colour to replace existing Rose Gold.
Slightly more curved outer design for improved durability.
No major battery upgrade is expected.
The next-generation Oura smart ring, the Oura Ring 5, has surfaced in leaked renders. This offers a first look at its updated finish and form factor well ahead of its expected late 2027 debut. Android Headlines has learned from industry insiders that with a refined design and a new colour strategy, Oura is aiming to improve design and health tracking rather than making drastic changes to battery or charging. Here are the details:
SurveyOura Ring 5 leak: design, colours, and charging
According to the leak, Oura is replacing its current ‘Rose Gold’ finish with a new ‘Deep Rose’ variant. This appears closer to a bronze-rose tone rather than a bright gold tint, suggesting a shift towards a more muted, jewellery-like aesthetic.

Other colour options will remain familiar:
- Matte black, likely marketed as ‘Stealth’
- Silver, in both glossy and brushed finishes
- Gold
From a comfort standpoint, the outer surface is now more curved compared to the flatter profile on the Oura Ring 4. Also, durability-wise, this could reduce the chances of the ring scratching devices like smartphones and tablets, which has been a common issue with some smart rings.
Moving on, Oura is also expected to retain its existing charging setup, including:
- A standard dock-style charger
- A more portable charging case for travel

Performance expectations: Sensors over battery
The report says the battery life is unlikely to see a major jump. The current Oura Ring 4 offers around five to eight days of usage, and early information suggests similar endurance for the Ring 5. Unlike smartwatches, smart rings are more constrained by size, which is likely the reason for limited hardware upgrades, including battery.
Instead, Oura could be focusing on improving its sensor stack. That typically includes:
- More accurate sleep tracking
- Better readiness and recovery metrics
- Potential upgrades to heart rate and temperature sensing
So, hardware changes tend to be incremental, while we could see improvements in sensor accuracy and resulting insights.
Since Oura does not follow an annual upgrade cycle, new models typically arrive every three to four years. The Ring 5 is expected to arrive late next year.
A more premium finish and improved durability could be part of Oura’s effort to maintain its position as a lifestyle-first, design-led wearable. Let’s see.
