Samsung Galaxy S26 series gets AirDrop support: Here is how it works

Samsung has started rolling out a new feature to make sharing files between Galaxy and Apple devices much easier. The company has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series now supports AirDrop through Quick Share. This feature allows Galaxy users to send photos, videos, and other files directly to nearby Apple devices, and vice versa, without relying on third-party apps or cloud services.

Samsung says the rollout begins today, March 23, and will first be available on the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The feature will initially be available in South Korea and will expand to other regions, including Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. Samsung also says support for additional Galaxy devices will be announced later.

How the feature works

Unlike Pixel devices, Samsung has not enabled this feature by default, according to 9To5Google. Galaxy users will need to manually turn it on. To enable it, users have to go to the Quick Share settings and switch on the Share with Apple devices option. iPhone users must set their AirDrop visibility to ‘Everyone.’ The same visibility setting may also be needed on the Galaxy device if files are being shared in the opposite direction.

This sharing feature was first introduced on the Google Pixel 10 series last year and later expanded to the Pixel 9 lineup. Oppo also recently confirmed that its devices will add support for the same sharing system before the end of this month. If more Android brands adopt it, sending files between Android and Apple devices may finally become much easier for users.
