Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says we have achieved AGI: Here is what it means for us
'I think we’ve achieved AGI,' Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said.
Huang also talked about the growing popularity of AI agent platforms like OpenClaw.
'The odds of 100,000 of those agents building Nvidia is zero per cent,' he said.
Artificial intelligence is advancing very quickly, and the idea of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) has become one of the most talked-about topics in the tech industry. On an episode of the Lex Fridman podcast, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made a bold claim, and said something that immediately grabbed attention: ‘I think we’ve achieved AGI.’
SurveyAGI is often described as a type of AI that can perform tasks at the same level as humans, or even better. However, there is still no single clear definition of what AGI really is. Because of this, researchers, tech leaders, and the public often debate whether the technology has actually reached that stage.

During the conversation, podcast host Lex Fridman explained how he thinks about AGI. He defined AGI as an AI system that can basically do a person’s job from start to finish. For example, it should be able to start a company, grow it, and run a successful tech business worth more than $1 billion.
Fridman then asked Huang when he believes AGI would truly arrive. To which Huang responded, ‘I think it’s now. I think we’ve achieved AGI.’
Huang also talked about the growing popularity of AI agent platforms like OpenClaw. These platforms allow people to create their own AI agents that can perform different tasks automatically.
He said he ‘wouldn’t be surprised if some social thing happened or somebody created a digital influencer … or some social application that, you know, feeds your little Tamagotchi or something like that, and it become out of the blue an instant success.’
At the same time, Huang also admitted that many AI projects lose momentum over time. As he explained, ‘A lot of people use it for a couple of months and it kind of dies away. Now, the odds of 100,000 of those agents building Nvidia is zero per cent.’

What it means for us
What I think is that Huang’s statement shows just how powerful AI tools have already become. Today, AI can help with writing, coding, research, design, and many everyday tasks. It already feels like AI is becoming a digital assistant that can handle more work than before. However, I also feel that calling it AGI might still be a bit early. While AI can do many things, it still struggles with long-term thinking, creativity, and making complex decisions the way humans do.
For us as users, the bigger takeaway is that AI will continue to become a bigger part of our daily lives. But for now, humans are the ones guiding these systems and deciding how they are used.
