Xiaomi’s mid budget devices, the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite will be available for sale today via Amazon. The Redmi Y1 is a selfie centric device which comes in two configurations of 4GB RAM/64GB ROM and 3GB RAM/32GB ROM at a price of Rs 10,999 and Rs 8,999 respectively. In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 features a 16MP front facing camera along with a selfie flash and sports a 13MP rear facing camera. It sports a 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC. The device supports dual SIM connectivity and features a dedicated microSD card slot. It is backed by 3080mAh battery and runs on MIUI 9. 

The Redmi Y1 Lite is a souped down version of the standard Redmi Y1 and comes with a 5MP front facing camera Instead of a 16MP front facing camera. The Y1 Lite sports the same 5.5-inch HD screen and a 3080mAh battery. It is powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC with 2GB of RAM, and offers 16GB of internal storage. The device is equipped with a 13MP rear camera and runs on MIUI 9. 

Apart from the Redmi Y1 series smartphones, Xiaomi also offers the Redmi 4 and the recently launched Redmi 5A in the sub-10k segment. The Redmi 4 is priced starting at Rs 6,999, while the Redmi 5A starts at Rs 4,999. You can check out our comparison of the three phones here.
