Almost a week after launching the international variant of the phone in Indonesia, Vivo has announced that it will debut the phone in India on August 7. The company has sent an official communication giving the media fraternity a heads up for the launch. The communication mentions neither the venue nor the name of the device Vivo is launching. The company, however, has teased the phone with the letter ‘S’ on the notification.
Vivo has already launched a Chinese variant of the phone in March this year and, as mentioned, it launched the international version last week. The Chinese variant of the phone was unveiled sporting a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, MediaTek Helio P70 chipset under the hood with 6GB RAM and 128GB expandable storage. The international variant, however, has slightly different specifications.

The phone is powered by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P65 mobile platform coupled with 4GB RAM, and 128GB of local storage. It runs the company’s Funtouch OS 9, which is based on Android 9 Pie OS.
In the camera department, the sports a 16MP primary camera with an f/1.78 aperture lens, an 8MP secondary wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, and a third 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture lens. In Indonesia, the handset was launched in Cosmic Green and Skyline Blue colour options, and is priced at IDR 35,99,000 (approx Rs. 17,700).
Last week, the company announced that it had roped-in Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan for the upcoming S series, which focuses on design and camera. The company has already launched a teaser for the same, the link to which is included above. “Our association with sports activities or Bollywood superstars resonate with our commitment of being- trustworthy, committed to India and innovative. When we were first designing the S1, the first device from the all new S series, we were clear that we wanted to make a device that was both a style benchmark and packed in powerful features. And Sara was the perfect reflection of these aspects,” Nipun Marya, Director Brand Strategy, Vivo India, said in a statement.
