Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with model numbers SM-N9600, SM-N9608 spotted on Chinese certification website
While further details of the two smartphones were not revealed by the listings, the two model numbers may allude to the Snapdragon and Exynos powered variants.
Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 9 has been certified by the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT). According to a report by Dutch website, LetsGoDigital, two variants of the smartphone have been certified with the model numbers SM-N9600 and SM-N9608. These could be for the Snapdragon and Exynos powered variants of the device. However, details aside from the model numbers are not yet known.
The Galaxy Note 9 was spotted on Geekbench a while back and as per that listing, the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 845 and managed to score 2190 and 8806 in the single and multi core tests respectively. There should also be an Exynos powered variant of the smartphone. Leaks also suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 may feature a 6.44-inch display along with a 4000mAh battery. If true, this would a slight increase from the 6.3-inch display and the 3300mAh battery that the Galaxy Note 8 offers.
There have also been reports that Samsung may finally introduce an in-display fingerprint scanner with the Galaxy Note 9. However, noted KGI analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Samsung might not choose to do as the technology is still in its infancy. As per his investor note, the current solutions do not match Samsung’s technical requirements. However, some manufacturers like Vivo have adopted the technology. The Vivo X20 Plus UD was launched in China earlier this year and was the first smartphone to sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device sports an AMOLED display under which is the Synaptics-made fingerprint sensor.
