The company’s CEO, Pete Lau has said that OnePlus would now focus on only one “true flagship” line

OnePlus may not be planning to launch a successor to its OnePlus X. According to a report by Engadget, the company’s CEO, Pete Lau said that the company's affordable device will not get a follow up. He reasoned that the company would now focus on only one “true flagship” line so as to strengthen its foundation, which he admitted was something his team neglected last year. Further, the company also plans to merge the development resources for Oxygen OS and the China-only Hydrogen OS. As per the report, the comments were made during the OnePlus 3 launch event in Shenzen.

The OnePlus X was launched in October last year and the Onyx variant was priced at Rs. 16,999. The phone is one of the best looking smartphones in its category and features a glass back with a metallic frame. The device sports a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with 3GB of RAM. At the back of the device is a 13MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus, while at the front is an 8MP camera. The phone was launched running Android Lollipop, and it is not known when the company will start rolling out the Marshmallow update. However, the company did roll out the update for the OnePlus 2 quite recently.
