OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 6 Midnight Black edition, with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, is headed to India on July 10 and will be available at Rs 43,999. The ‘Notify Me’ registration for the OnePlus 6 Midnight Black (8GB + 256GB) is live on Amazon.in starting today and users can pre-register to get notified for the sale.

The sale of the 256GB variant of the OnePlus 6 Midnight Black will start on July 10 on Amazon.in and on July 14 on oneplus.in. The phone will also be available through OnePlus' offline channels starting July 14.

The back of the OnePlus 6, while glass, features a matte-black finish. To achieve the matte black finish, OnePlus says that the company used corrosion on the surface of the glass to carefully create countless tiny holes, allowing the layer beneath it to permeate through the glass. A 0.1mm-layer of film with a jagged texture was designed to produce a subtle S-shaped line when the phone is reflected in the light.

In our review of the OnePlus 6, we said, “The OnePlus 6 is built for speed from the ground up. The smartphone has the history of being a flagship killer, but despite the top-of-the-class hardware, the compromises in OnePlus phones have also remained consistent, so much so, that it is now acts as a deterrent to buy this over an expensive flagship. The OnePlus 6 is still just as fast, even more beautiful but has the same flaws as last time.”

Coming to the specifications, the OnePlus 6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and runs OxygenOS, which is based on Android Oreo 8.1. It features a 6.28-inch FHD+ Full Optic AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, which has a notch on top. The rear panel of the smartphone is clad in glass where a vertically stacked dual rear camera setup is placed. There is a 16MP + 20MP sensor on the main camera, while on the front sits a 16MP sensor. The smartphone comes in a 6GB/64GB model and an 8GB RAM version with 128GB and 256GB internal storage options.

Recently, OnePlus rolled out the OxygenOS 5.1.6 fixing bug issues and introducing portrait mode to the front-facing camera along with a host of other improvements. But just a few days later, information circulating the internet suggested that the company halted the update due to some bugs. It looked like there is a new build that will hit users – OxygenOS 5.1.7 but even this update was paused and a new OxygenOS 5.1.8 update was released which seemed to have a big problem — fast battery drain.
