Nokia India has introduced a new Windows Phone 7.5-based smartphone, called the Lumia 510. Priced at $199 (expected to be below Rs. 11,000 in India), the Nokia Lumia 510 is expected to hit the Indian market around Diwali next month.
Speaking of specifications, the Lumia 510 sports a 4-inch WVGA 800 x 480 TFT display, Snapdragon S1 processor and 256MB of RAM. The device comes with built-in 4GB storage. There’s no expansion slot, sadly. However, Nokia compensates it with 7GB of free SkyDrive cloud storage.
Other notable features of the Nokia Lumia 510 are 5MP autofocus camera, People Hub, preloaded Microsoft Office Mobile apps, IE 9 browser, and the company’s mobile navigation and location services Nokia Maps, Drive and Transport.

For connectivity, the device supports GPRS/EDGE, WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, GPS/A-GPS, micro-USB, 3.5mm audio connector (AHJ WP Controls), Dual Transfer Mode and HSDPA/WCDMA.
The Nokia device comes with a 1,300 mAh battery. The smartphone is scheduled to launch in November starting in China and India, later followed by South America and other Asia-Pacific countries.
Nokia’s Lumia 510 would be the company’s cheapest Windows Phone device – a move aimed at making its Lumia series more popular among users. However, the possibility of the Lumia 510 receiving a Windows Phone 8 upgrade is non-existent, essentially eliminating the intelligent consumer who wants a future-proofed device. The device may do well in India, a price-conscious market. But in other top markets, we highly doubt its success, especially considering Windows Phone 8 devices will be making their way to the markets by next month.
