  • The phone might also feature an LED flash and an optic sensor on the back

HMD Global is rumoured to be working on its flagship device, the Nokia 9 PureView and it is speculated to feature a five-camera setup on the back. While the company has not confirmed the handset’s existence, numerous reports are circulating online that suggest that the phone is in development. Now, new case renders of the Nokia 9 have leaked online, via AndroidPure, hinting at a penta-camera setup on the device’s rear panel. An image of the case reveals seven cutouts on the back, and while five of the cutouts are said to house the cameras and the two other cutouts, one might feature an LED flash and another one for an alleged optic sensor. Additionally, the renders show a mic hole above the camera setup. The case renders also suggest that there might not be a 3.5mm audio jack on the device, which is in line with the previous reports.

Three Nokia phones were previously spotted on Bluetooth certification websites and as per the report, the model numbers TA-1082, TA-1087, and TA-1094 have received the certification. The TA-1094 variant of the phone is also spotted on other certification websites like MIIT and 3C. The listings suggest that the phone might come with Bluetooth 5.0 and support for 4G. Earlier reports of the device suggest that the company might launch the Nokia 9 PureView by the end of 2018. However, this might not happen and another report claimed that the launch had been postponed. Rumours circulating the internet suggest that the device might be announced at CES in January or MWC in February. The main reason for this is apparently quality issues with the penta-camera setup.

A recent report also suggested that Nokia might be working on a totally new smartphone. A new Nokia phone was leaked in images and its front panel looks like a notch-less Nokia 5.1 Plus. There is no notch and the front camera can’t be seen anywhere either, and it is speculated that it could come with a motorised setup or a slider that houses the front camera setup and the sensors. An image of the phone’s rear panel shows off three centrally placed, vertically aligned rear cameras. There’s no fingerprint sensor either. The report suggests that the phone might feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and run on the Snapdragon 855 SoC.
