HIGHLIGHTS

Honor 9 is the successor to last year's flagship Honor 8 and offers a premium design with flagship specifications. The smartphone will compete with the OnePlus 5 and Nokia 8 when it becomes available here in India.

Honor is set to launch its flagship Honor 9 smartphone in India on October 5. The smartphone will be a follow-up to last year's Honor 8 offering a premium design and flagship specifications. The smartphone was launched globally in June at a retail price of around €400 and should be priced under Rs 35,000 in India, making it a new competitor to the OnePlus 5 and Nokia 8.

The Honor 9 features a dual glass body with an aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass 3 back for a shinier appearance. The handset offers a 5.15-inch full HD with DCI-P3 colour space similar to the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8. Powering the smartphone is a HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset, also found on the Huawei P10, Mate 9 and Honor 8 Pro. It comes with 6GB RAM and option for either 64GB or 128GB internal storage.

Honor 9, like other Huawei and Honor's flagships, also sports a dual rear camera setup. The smartphone features a combination of 20MP monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGB colour sensor at the back. The dual camera setup offers 2x lossless zoom along with bokeh effect and dual LED flash. There is an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies.

Honor 9 runs EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat and is backed by a 3200mAh battery with fast charging support. The smartphone supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port. It features a front-mounted fingerprint sensor and is globally available in grey, blue, black, gold colours.
