Google store says goodbye to the Nexus 6
HIGHLIGHTS

Upon accessing the listing page of the phone via a direct link, it shows that the device is no longer available for purchase

Google has removed the Nexus 6 from its stores. The listing page of the phone is no longer visible when searching for the device on the Google Store, but alternatively, it can be accessed via a direct link. The page now shows, “The Nexus 6 is no longer available for purchase”. However, the phone can still be purchased from other e-commerce sites.

The Nexus 6 was manufactured by Motorola and was unveiled last year. The phone has a 5.9-inch QHD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC with 3GB RAM. At the back of the phone is a 13MP camera with optical image stabilisation and a 2MP front facing camera. The phone also comes with a 3220mAh battery. The Nexus 6 was succeeded by the Nexus 5X and 6P, which were launched in September this year. The 16GB variant of the Nexus 5X was launched at Rs. 31,990, but the device recently received a price cut and is priced about the same has a Nexus 6. In an interview with IBN Live, Amit Boni, General Manager, Motorola India said that for the current price point, the Nexus 6 is better than the Nexus 5X. He also said that Motorola has no plans to discontinue the Nexus 6 as there is still a significant demand for the phone.

A few days ago, Nexus users started to receive Android Marshmallow v6.0.1 update. However, as of writing this article, our Nexus 6 smartphone hasn’t yet received the update, but we do expect to see it soon. Being a minor update, it doesn’t change much, but it does bring support for a number of new emojis. The official Nexus Twitter account tweeted, “We're celebrating new emojis on #Nexus which start rolling out today!” The update also changed the position of the Home, Back and Menu Buttons for tablet users. The Back and Home buttons are now towards the left while the Recent Apps button is on the right. This change make it easier for tablet users to access the buttons with their thumb.
