GTA 6 India price may be lower than we think, here is why
French retailer leak shows GTA 6 editions priced around €89.99 to €199.99.
EU prices are generally higher, so India pricing should be lower that that.
Zelnick's $70-80 comment suggests Rs 5,999-6,999 pricing for India.
Ever since Rockstar unveiled the pre-order dates for GTA 6, the pricing debate has returned. Over the past few months, there have been various rumours suggesting that the game could cost $100. But such reports have been debunked by insiders. However, after the pre-order dates were announced, a leak from a French retailer went viral, listing five separate editions of the game. Given the game’s arrival, that isn’t surprising, but what is, though, is the prices, which range from €89.99 all the way up to €199.99. Naturally, this has started to worry fans in India about the game’s pricing. But before assuming the worst, there’s good reason to believe the actual cost could land lower than these numbers suggest. Let’s find out why.

Why the European leak doesn’t tell the full story
Before we talk about the Indian pricing, let’s understand why the game pricing leak could be untrue. Well, historically, the game prices in the EU countries have been higher than US pricing for the same game, and that’s largely due to VAT and regional distribution costs. So directly converting €89.99 into rupees would likely overstate what Indian buyers actually end up paying.
Not only that, but the pricing at which the retailer has listed the game is also unconfirmed, as neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has issued any official pricing yet. Which means that the pricing should be best treated as a placeholder, rather than actual game pricing.
How much could GTA 6 actually cost in India?

Back in March, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed GTA 6 pricing indirectly in an interview. While discussing why the game wouldn’t carry in-game ads, he said that charging players $70 to $80 for the game and then layering ads on top would feel unfair. Given that this estimate is coming from the company’s own CEO rather than a retailer listing, it carries more credibility than the leak.
A $70 to $80 base would put GTA 6’s standard edition somewhere in the Rs 5,999 to Rs 6,999 range in India. Of course, none of this is official yet, and pricing leaks have a habit of shifting right up until launch.

With that said, though, pre-orders for the much-awaited game, GTA 6, are going to open on June 25. That date should finally tell us what price Indian gamers will actually see and what it means for where game pricing goes from here on out.
