GTA 6 price revealed? Take Two CEO hints it could be more affordable than we expect
GTA 6 will likely cost somewhere between $70 and $80 at launch, as per Zelnick.
GTA 6, being a full priced game will not feature any in-game ads.
He expressed his thoughts on AI tools and why human creativity remains essential for hits.
With the release of the Sony PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, game prices were raised to $70, whether they were physical or digital. While the move got a lot of hate initially, it has become the industry standard since. Due to all this, though, GTA 6 became a major highlight, not only because of the general hype around the game but also because of the pricing debate. Since early reports suggested that the game could cost at least $100 at launch, this got a lot of fans worried. But recently, Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, was in an interview where he hinted at the price the game could come at. Along with that, he has also revealed new details about the game. Let’s check out everything we got to know.

GTA 6: Expected pricing and in-game ads

In his latest interview with The Game Business, Take-Two’s CEO Zelnick was having a chat about GTA 6 when he hinted at the pricing of the game. Interestingly, this was a situation of killing two birds with one stone, as the interviewer had originally asked about the situation of in-game ads with GTA 6.
Talking about the in-game monetization Zelnick explained that they have some limited advertising inside games like NBA 2K because it fits within the genre. As per him, players would want to see advertising in an arena because it would be present in real life too.
But with GTA 6’s in-game ad situation, he gave out maybe more details than we expected. He said, “Very difficult for me to believe that we would want to have interstitial advertising in a game that someone paid 70 or 80 bucks for would seem unfair.”
Talking about the Indian pricing, given how he explained that the game would cost around $70-$80, we can easily assume the pricing from there. After looking at the past games which have followed the same pricing, this would roughly translate to a price range of Rs 5,999 to Rs 6,999, based on the different editions (regular and premium) the game could offer.
Can AI create hits like GTA?

Aside from GTA 6, Zelnick also touched upon a few more topics in the interview. Most recently, AI has been making headlines in the video game industry. With the advancements made to AI, it has become a common practice among developers to use AI tools. Though not all are happy with that. We saw a large part of the audience being dismissive towards upcoming AI tools like DLSS 5. Not only that, but recent games are also being called out for failing to disclose the usage of AI in their development.
Given all this, it does make sense that gamers across the globe would be interested in knowing the thoughts of Rockstar Games and Take-Two on the usage of AI tools. And it looks like Zelnick was prepared for this question, as he gave out quite an interesting statement.
First up, he explained that, “These tools may help you create assets, but that won’t help you create hits,” Adding more to his statement, he said, “You can create assets that might look like a big release, that might look like NBA 2K or EA Sports FC. But creating a hit of that magnitude is a completely different animal and does require human engagement and creativity,”
