No official word on the exact launch date yet

Asus ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip will launch in India in the coming weeks. The ZenFone 8 series may launch as the Asus 8Z lineup in India as the company does not hold the license to use the ZenFone brand name in the country. This was why the ZenFone 6 launched as the Asus 6Z in India back in 2019. Currently, there is no official word on when Asus plans to launch the ZenFone 8 series in India. The company postponed its launch events earlier this month due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.

A microsite featuring ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip has gone live teasing the launch of the two phones in India soon. The ZenFone 8 is a compact smartphone, while the ZenFone 8 Flip has a rear camera system that flips up to become the front camera.

Asus ZenFone 8 series specifications

The Asus ZenFone 8 Flip is the company’s flagship smartphone and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. It features a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ (2400×1080 pixels) resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 6, while the rear panel is covered in Gorilla Glass 3. It has a metal-glass build that measures 9.6mm thick and weighs 230 grams.

The ZenFone 8 Flip has triple cameras housed in a flip module headlined by a 64MP camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 112-degree field-of-view. The cameras can record in 8K UHD at 30FPS and 4K UHD at upto 120FPS. The ZenFone 8 Flip is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery.

Meanwhile, the ZenFone 8 is a compact smartphone featuring a 5.9-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution Super AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It too is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. There is a punch-hole cutout in the top-centre of the display for the selfie camera and the display is covered with the latest Gorilla Glass Victus. Like the ZenFone 8 Flip, the regular ZenFone 8 also has an aluminum frame. The phone measures 8.9mm in thickness and weighs 169 grams. Additionally, the phone is also IP68 rated, making it resistant to dust and water ingress by up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

The regular ZenFone 8 gets the primary 64MP and the 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera along with a 12MP selfie camera. Both phones have stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint sensors, Bluetooth 5.2, and WiFi 6E support. The ZenFone 8 has a 4,000mAh battery at its disposal. Both phones support 30W fast charging out-of-the-box.
