Asus Zenfone 5 pricing leaks ahead of China launch

The Asus Zenfone 5 will reportedly be priced at TWD 11,990 (Rs 26,700 approx) and is expected to launch in May in India.

Asus unveiled its Zenfone 5 Lite, Zenfone 5 and the Zenfone 5Z series of smartphones at MWC 2018. The three smartphones come with an edge-to-edge thin-bezel display with a notch on top. The company also announced that the Zenfone 5 Lite will be available starting March 2018 and the Zenfone 5 and 5Z will ship from April and June respectively. The 4GB RAM/64GB ROM variant of the Zenfone 5Z is priced at EUR 479 (Rs 38,400 approx), but the company didn’t reveal prices of the Zenfone 5 Lite and the Zenfone 5. Now, a new report by MyDrivers claims that the Zenfone 5 will be priced at TWD 11,990 (Rs 26,700 approx). Asus is holding an event in China and Taiwan on April 12, where it’s expected to launch the smartphones.

In terms of specification, the Asus ZenFone 5 features a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, coupled with options for either 4GB or 6GB RAM. It runs on ZenUI 5.0, which is based upon Android 8.0 Oreo and is backed by a 3000mAh battery. The smartphone comes with a 12MP + 8MP dual rear camera setup and comes with an 8MP front facing camera. It is expected to be launched around May in India. 

The company’s flagship smartphone, the Zenfone 5Z is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and comes in three memory options. It will be available in a 4GB RAM/64GB ROM, 6GB RAM/128GB storage, and 8GB RAM/256GB memory variants. It features a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display with a 19:9 display aspect ratio and it sports a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. 

Finally, Asus Zenfone 5 Lite is the smaller variant of the Zenfone 5. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and will be available two variants, one with a 2GB RAM/16GB storage model and another 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM model. The smartphone features a 6-inch univisium display with a 2160 x 1080p resolution and is backed by a 3300mAh battery. It is equipped with a quad camera setup, two on the front and two on the back. The handset comes with a 16MP Sony sensor on the rear and a 20MP camera on the front. There will also be another Snapdragon 630 powered variant of the phone.
