Optimus balances on its legs while the net drives the entire upper body, the company mentioned in the video.

The precision required for tasks like battery insertion leaves little room for error, yet Optimus adeptly targets free slots autonomously. Moreover, it showcases the ability to recover from failures independently.

According to the company, the training data was collected via human teleoperation and scaled across Tesla’s fleet for a variety of tasks.

Optimus is currently being tested at one of Tesla’s factories, with a continuously decreasing rate of human interventions. In addition to its functional duties, the video captures Optimus taking leisurely walks around the office.

Several users expressed their thoughts on these new improvements. While one user said, ”This is amazing! Can’t wait to find out what it can do in one or two years”, another commented, “I wonder why Optimus only uses one hand instead of both like a human. Anyway, I want to praise you Optimus, for doing well!”

For those who are unaware, Optimus was first introduced by Elon Musk in 2022 during Tesla’s AI Day. Musk said that Tesla could bring this robot to market for “less than $20,000”. When announced, Tesla CEO had also said, “Our goal is to make a useful humanoid robot as quickly as possible.”
