The foldable smartphones of 2024 could feature larger displays.

The size of Galaxy Z Flip 6's cover display has also been revealed.

Samsung is reportedly testing a 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN3 sensor for its upcoming foldable smartphones.

Samsung launched its first foldable smartphones with much smaller displays than the latest ones. The Samsung Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip launched with 4.6-inch and 1.1-inch cover displays. Today, we have Samsung foldables that offer a 6.2-inch cover display on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and a 3.4-inch cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. And it’s not just about the cover displays, we have also seen upgrades in main displays as well.

Keeping this cycle in mind, Samsung could offer even larger displays in the upcoming foldable smartphones. This means that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 might boast larger displays than their predecessors. According to a new leak by Ross Young, the foldable smartphones of 2024 could feature larger displays. For those who don’t know, Ross Young is a display analyst and also the founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).

Young also revealed the size of Galaxy Z Flip 6’s cover display in a post on X. He mentioned, “Flip 6 cover display approaching 3.9″.” For context, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is equipped with a 3.4-inch cover display. However, he didn’t reveal the size of Galaxy Z Fold 6’s cover display.

A while back, an alleged prototype of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 revealed the larger design of the smartphone. The prototype surfaced on the internet, revealing a wider ratio, zero-gap design, and a thick middle frame. Samsung could do this to compete with the OnePlus Open which certainly features larger displays.

Furthermore, both the upcoming smartphones are expected to launch with similar camera specifications. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 features a dual 12-megapixel camera setup. However, a few days ago, a tipster claims that Samsung is testing a 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN3 sensor for its upcoming foldable smartphones.
