After authorities traced the last known location of their mobile phones, they found them in the Atmiya Sanskar Dham Swaminarayan Temple area on the outskirts of Surat. In the late evening, the relatives spotted one of the women’s scooters parked outside the temple complex, prompting a search of the premises.

After the investigators reviewed the CCTV footage, it showed that the two entered a washroom inside the temple early in the morning. They were not seen leaving afterward. When the locked door was forced open, both were found unconscious inside. The police also recovered several drug vials and syringes from the scene. Investigators believe that women injected themselves with an anaesthetic drug. Both were then taken to separate hospitals but were declared dead.

Interestingly, officers also examined the victim’s mobile phones. It suggested that the two had searched for methods of suicide using drugs through ChatGPT. One of the devices also reportedly contained an image of a news report related to a similar suicide case involving anaesthetic drugs. Officials said no suicide note has been found so far.
