The features are now accessible through Samsung’s Camera Assistant app under “Additional modes,” not directly in the default Camera app.

One UI 8.5 is expected to debut on the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026 and gradually roll out to older Galaxy S, Z, A, M, F, and Tab devices through June.

Samsung One UI 8.5 second beta restores missing camera features: Release timeline, eligible devices and more

Samsung has quietly restored two camera features that briefly disappeared with the rollout of the OneUI 8.5 beta, addressing complaints from photography enthusiasts who noticed their removal earlier this month. For the unversed, the One UI 8.5 beta introduced a host of minor refinements across the interface, but it also dropped support for Single Take and Dual Rec from the default camera app. Both features have long appealed to power users who enjoy experimenting with Samsung’s more advanced camera modes.

Now, the One UI 8.5 Beta 2 restores those features. According to SamMobile, Single Take and Dual Rec can now be reactivated via Samsung’s Camera Assistant app, rather than appearing directly within the standard camera interface, as they did in previous Galaxy software versions. Camera Assistant, which is available through the Galaxy Store, now includes toggles for both features under the “Additional modes” section. Once enabled, the options will reappear in the Camera app.

What do these features do?

Single Take allows users to capture many photographs and short video clips in various styles with a single camera sweep, whilst Dual Rec allows the phone to record video with two cameras at the same time. Samsung looks to be placing these modes as extra tools rather than fundamental camera functionality, presumably to keep the default experience simple for ordinary customers.
