Officials stated that only invited dignitaries, accredited media, and registered delegates will be allowed entry on that day. S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), confirmed that access has been restricted to ensure smooth movement and adequate security during key sessions with global leaders and industry heads.
The announcement comes amid an overwhelming response to the summit, prompting the government to extend the event for an additional day. The AI Impact Summit, which was supposed to end on February 20, will now run until February 21. Organisers have also extended exhibition hours, with the expo now open until 8 p.m. instead of 6 p.m., giving attendees more time to explore demonstrations and interactive zones.
According to officials, the decision to revise the schedule was made in advance to reduce inconvenience and allow visitors to plan accordingly. The expo will reopen to registered delegates and the general public at 11 a.m. on February 20 and will run through Saturday, with extended hours.
For those unfamiliar, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw previously stated that registrations had exceeded three lakh, indicating a growing interest in AI in the country. Several global participants attended closed-door discussions on February 19, and authorities stated that the revised arrangements aim to strike a balance between security requirements and public engagement.
