Google is shaking things up this year. Before its big annual developer conference, I/O 2025, the tech giant will host a special event focused only on Android. This event is called “The Android Show: I/O Edition.” Sameer Samat, who is the President of the Android Ecosystem at Google, will be hosting the show. He will talk about the new and exciting features coming to Android this year. But why Google is hosting a separate event for Android? It seems like the tech giant has created this event because there’s simply too much Android news to fit into the main I/O conference.

The Android Show, a quarterly video series from Google’s Android Developers team, highlights the latest news, features, and updates in the Android world.
This special I/O edition stands out because Google typically saves its major Android announcements for the main I/O event. Revealing new developments ahead of time suggests one of two things: either there’s so much Android news that it’s being split across multiple events, or this year’s I/O will be heavily centered around AI advancements.
